Do I need to have a real estate licence to do property mangement for rental homes?
February 23rd, 2010 | by admin |I have been working in property management in Georgia for about 6 months and need to know if I am supposed to hold a real estate license to do this type of work?
You don’t say if "managing" the properties includes renting. You also state in your question, "rental homes" (single family homes?) " Check your state requirements. I AM SPEAKING HERE FOR ILLINOIS ONLY, a limited scope license is required for the following: 1) Leasing or renting residential real properties, 2) Collecting rent for above said properties, 3) Attempting to, offering or negotiating a rental/lease or collecting rent for said properties. If the individual markets single family homes, then the limited scope license is No longer sufficient. If, as an employee, your company OWNS the properties you’re renting/leasing, then you do not need a license. There are further guidelines you should be acquainted with in addition to above.

u dont need a license if your managing property. u would need a license if you are selling/renting property though. do u have a rental agent or are you acting as one on behalf of the company. if so then you should possess a license.

In most cases, no, you don’t need a real estate license to do property management. To satisfy your own curiosity, call your local real estate school and ask them.
