Were property taxes in Indiana lowered to 1% of the home’s value?

January 17th, 2010 | by admin |

I know that there was talk about a cap on Indiana’s property taxes of 1 percent of the homes value. Does anyone know if that was ever passed? Our taxes have still not been assessed for 2008 and I was hoping that they would go down.

I am in the same boat as you! We live in Lafayette, and if you go on www.journalandcourier.com (our local paper) they have approx. tax payments, ours went from $3000 a year down to $2000 a year, but this is only an estimate. From other sources I have heard that this decrease is for 2009. I will check back to see what others write in too. Sorry I could not help more. I am checking the tax assesssors office, our mortgage company daily too. Good luck! ** I don’t know what county you are in, but checking the Tippecanoe County tax office just now, the new amounts are not in yet.
