Company said I owe back taxes on rental property, which was sold, can they put lien on main home?
February 15th, 2010 | by admin |Paid taxes that was on propety tax bill, but then they did an update and found out taxes were extremely higher than statement. Even included 2 years before I bought the property. What recourse do I have and can they foreclose on main home?
you should not be paying taxes on property you did not own
if you have proof of ownership for the years they are charging you should protest
and the escrow companies that handled the sales are obligated to get all the pertinent information re: taxes, liens etc. before closing
they are insured for their errors
and if the taxes were not posted at the time of the sale, reassessment at a later date sounds very bogus
